Senior Information Technology Officer
Why did you become involved with the board?
After a few years not being directly involved in the community, I felt the time was right to get involved, and something for Haddington. Lots of positive things were already happening, and I felt this new style of Community Trust could be an excellent way to build on this, provide more support and be a catalyst to allow more positive things to happen. On a personal note, I also wanted to experience something I’d never done before.
What is your connection to Haddington?
I was brought up in Haddington and went to the Infants School, Kings Meadow and Knox Academy, leaving in 1984. After 5 years at University in Paisley, 9 years in Norwich, then 4 in Glasgow, I moved back to Haddington with my family, buying the house where I lived as a teenager! This was never part of any grand plan, but the opportunity to live in an area that had quality schools and facilities, beautiful countryside and a thriving community was too good to say no to.
What do you want the Trust to achieve?
I’d like the Trust to make Haddington become THE place that people want to live in, visit and work and invest in, in the east of Scotland.
What else do you do?
I love my family time, holidays, hill walking and spending time with friends over a pint of real ale! I also cycle a lot, desperately trying to keep fit, and though I’ve not worn my boots for a while now, I like to watch a bit of rugby.
